BankWest opens up in Goondiwindi

BankWest opens up in Goondiwindi

(29 January 2007 – Australia) BankWest has opened a new business banking centre on the NSW/Queensland border and appointed a business development manager for the region. BankWest said it had opened the centre in Goondiwindi to service customers in Goondiwindi, St George, Moree and surrounding areas. It is the bank’s first business banking centre in the region.

Head of Rural and Regional Banking, Jamie Ritchie, said the region offered excellent growth potential and was an important region in Queensland.

'Like many parts of Australia, Goondiwindi is experiencing drought however the farming industry is strong and we expect the region will experience significant growth over the next few years,' he said.

BankWest also appointed Michael Cleary as business development manager for the region.

'As a bank, we are driving competition and change in the banking industry by providing specialised industry experts who have the knowledge to bring the financial know-how to the specific farming industries in Goondiwindi including cotton, wheat, sorghum, cattle and sheep farming,' Mr Cleary said.
