Barclays hires Sherlund as chairman of Software Banking

(25 June 2015 – Britain) Barclays Plc has named Richard Sherlund chairman of Software Banking, to start in September.

Sherlund will join Barclays from Nomura Holdings Inc, where he was managing director and head of United States technology research.

Sherlund has spent more than 20 years as an equity analyst, previously working at Goldman Sachs Group Inc and was ranked number one as a software analyst by financial magazine Institutional Investor for 17 years.

Barclays is hiring investment bankers to strengthen its team after losing a number of high-profile employees last year.

Sherlund spent the majority of his career at Goldman Sachs, where he was a partner and software analyst from 1982 to 2007.
