Bendigo branches out in top end
(15 September 2006 – Australia) Bendigo Bank is set to open its first branch in Northern Territory in the town of Coolalinga.
Bendigo Bank chief general manager Strategy & Staff, Greg Gillett, described the occasion as "the final part of the Bendigo Bank’s interstate expansion".
"Following the opening of this Coolalinga and Districts Community Bank Branch, the Bendigo will be a truly national organisation with branches in each state and territory," he said.
The bank is also looking to open branches in three other Northern Territory communities – Alice Springs, Nightcliff and Katherine – which will eventually be supported by a bank owned branch in Darwin.
"We continue to work with some 60 new communities around Australia and expect to open approximately 30 branches again this financial year, more than half of which will be outside our home state of Victoria," Gillett said.
Bendigo Bank currently operates 339 branches across Australia and opened 28 new Community Bank branches and five company branches last year.
"We are raising both deposits and loans in every state and more than 50 percent of our branches are now interstate. This is confirmation that our brand positioning and retail strategy is cutting through," Gillett said.
