BOQ targets cashed up customers with new card

(14 December 2005 – Australia) Bank of Queensland has launched a Gold MasterCard credit card to target high net-worth customers. The move comes 12 months after BOQ launched a low rate Visa card, aimed at customers at the other end of the financial spectrum.

BOQ head of marketing, Mark Franzmann, said the bank had been under represented in the high level customer segment and the new card would enable BOQ to make a big dent in the top end of town.

"It will also be an excellent tool to retain and increase the value of our existing high net worth clients, who make up about 20 percent of our existing customer base," he said.

The new card will provide customers with ongoing domestic and international travel insurance, increased spending limits and extended warranties, among other features.

"Unlike other cards which charge you extra for their various benefits, all these features are included in the competitive annual card fee," Franzmann said.
