BoQ targets new customers with sophisticated ATMs

(10 December 2004 – Australia) Bank of Queensland is the first bank in Australia to use ATM technology developed by NCR, which will enable the bank to run sophisticated marketing campaigns through its ATM network. The software, called APTRA Promote and APTRA Relate, allows ATM owners to use video, sound and graphics as well as promotional coupons and personalised applications.

BoQ has the second largest fleet of ATMs with 2000 machines across Australia and has used the network as a strategic means of expanding its interstate footprint.

"As the bank expands beyond our home state and opens new branches in NSW and Victoria, APTRA Promote makes our ATM network by far the best channel to target and attract new customers," BoQ ATM channel manager Stephanie Peterson said.

She said the software’s ability to identify other banks’ customers using our ATMs and market to them provided BoQ with a great opportunity to gain competitive edge against established financial institutions in new locations.
