BOQ’s new wave of branches keeps rolling

(9 September 2004 – Australia) Bank of Queensland’s interstate expansion continues apace with the bank announcing it will open 20 new owner managed branches in New South Wales and Victoria by Christmas. The latest raft of branches will include the first ever in Sydney’s CBD plus a second in the Melbourne CBD.

BOQ managing director David Liddy said the latest roll out would take the total of branches up to 157 with 20 of these in NSW and Victoria.

"We will be virtually opening a branch a week over the next four months as part of our interstate roll out," he said.

BOQ currently has 137 branches in Queensland and five interstate.

"The early feedback from our owner managers has been extremely good, with strong lending and deposit figures already coming through after only a few weeks," Liddy said.

"We are a new wave in banking when it comes to service delivery because every one of our bank managers is empowered to deliver exceptional, one-on-one services," he said.

"The success of the roll out so far proves that Australians do want genuine service from their banks rather than automated phone messages and faceless call centres."
