CBA appoints former PwC partner as CFO

(25 July 2006 – Australia) Commonwealth Bank has appointed David Craig as the bank’s chief financial officer. Craig joins CBA from property developer Australand where he was CFO. He was formerly an audit partner and chief operations officer at PricewaterhouseCoopers Australasia and had a US based role as global CFO for PwC Consulting.

CBA chief executive officer Ralph Norris said Craig was a "high calibre executive with strong financial and audit experience, including in banking and financial services, through a range of senior positions he has held in leading Australian and international companies".

Craig’s mandate will include leading the finance and risk management areas, overseeing the review of accounting standards, audit requirements and regulation.

Craig starts with CBA in September, taking over from Gary Thursby who held the role of CFO on a caretaker basis.
