CBA shows its new cards
(18 September 2009 – Australia) CBA has unveiled a new set of credit cards, in a bid to transform its credit cards suite to offer more rewards, better value and to recognise customer relationships.
From October, CBA will launch a new suite of cards by relaunching Commonwealth Awards as well as the introduction of two new card types in what CBA categorised as the Low Rate and Low Fee Credit Card families.
Stephen Karpin, executive general manager, Credit Cards, for the bank said that the transformation is part of the bank’s strategy to be committed to superior customer service by delivering greater value and enhanced benefits to its customers.
Further, Mr Karpin said that the cards have been designed to relate to specific customer requests.
Customers have told CBA that they want recognition of their relationship with the bank. Put simply, customers have three distinct preferences; more rewards, low interest rates and no annual fees, CBA found.
With the new card launch, CBA has also claimed to be the first major bank brand to introduce a low rate gold credit card; low rates with the benefits of a gold card. BankWest, CBA’s subsidiary, launched a free card of this nature only recently.
On the face of it, CBA’s cards in two other areas; no fees and more rewards are in already established product areas in the Australian market, but the card shuffle clearly shows the bank’s intention to fit in with customer requests.
