CBA strategy boss announced

(17 February 2009 – Australia) A new Head of Strategy at CBA has been chosen to replace the now-head of business and private banking, Ian Narev. The Commonwealth Bank Group today announced the appointment of Annabel Spring as Group Head of Strategy.

The appoint follows the split of business banking at CBA and the subsequent transfer of Ian Narev from Head of Strategy to the position of Group Executive Business and Private Banking.

The Strategy position has been vacant since the 27th of January when Narev started in his new role.

Spring’s most recent position was Managing Director, Head of Global Strategy and Execution for Morgan Stanley in New York.

CBA’s Chief Executive Officer, Ralph Norris, said that Spring is a high calibre executive who brings significant financial services and strategic development experience, both within and outside of Australia, to our Strategy area.

Spring has been with Morgan Stanley for nearly 15 years and has worked in New York, Asia and Australia.

Spring will report directly to the CEO and is expected to commence duties in March 2009.
