Citibank looking for digit growth with cardless product

(15 November 2006 – Singapore) Citibank Singapore is rolling out what it claims is the "world's first cardless biometric payment service". The service works by way of fingerprint authentication – although users still need to provide photo ID.

Citibank customers will be able to use the technology to make purchases at restaurants, cinemas and music and other retail outlets in Singapore.

Technology to support the Citibank Clear Platinum card has been provided by US company Pay By Touch.

'This is the ultimate in convenience - the ability to make credit card transactions with just a finger scan,' Citibank Singapore country business manager Jonathan Larsen said.
