Citigroup appoints Coudert Bros partner as new MD
(23 February 2005 – Australia) Citigroup has appointed lawyer Warren Scott as managing director and general counsel, Australia and New Zealand.
Scott joins Citigroup from law firm Coudert Brothers where he was a partner in the Sydney and New York offices, specialising in advising clients on cross border offerings of debt and equity, negotiations of joint venture agreements and preparation of bank loan documentation.
He has been a director of Citibank for three years and will continue in the role. He was involved in the Australian government’s sale of Telstra and Commonwealth Bank, and more recently in the JBWere Goldman Sachs merger.
Scott will report to Les Matheson, Citibank Australia CEO and Stephen Roberts, Citigroup Corporate and Investment Banking CEO.
Citigroup said the appointment of Scott illustrated the importance of general counsel to financial services companies.
