CSFB ramps up Asian business

(11 March 2005 – Singapore) Credit Suisse First Boston has appointed Jose Isidro Camacho as vice chairman of the bank’s Asian business, excluding Japan. He was previously secretary for the Department of Finance in the Philippines and before that he held senior positions at Deutsche Bank, and Bankers Trust in the Philippines, Hong Kong and Singapore.

CSFB chairman and chief executive for the Asia Pacific region Paul Calello said Camacho brought a depth of knowledge and experience from within government and investment banking.

In further news, CSFB has signed a three year lease for a 7,300 square feet building in Kuala Lumpur as part of the bank’s plans of growing its presence in what it views as a thriving market.

The bank said it was looking to expand its asset management, private equity, and outsourcing businesses in Malaysia.

It said its decision to boost its Malaysian presence was a direct reflection of the Malaysian government’s ongoing liberalisation of its capital markets.
