Deutsche Bank strengthens Export Finance

(26 April 2010 – Asia) Deutsche Bank has announced two appointments within its Structured Trade and Export Finance (STEF) team in Asia, as the bank aims to strengthen client coverage within the region. Evert-Jan Zondag joins Deutsche Bank's STEF team as a senior originator and will spearhead the origination and export finance business from Hong Kong.

Mr Zondag will be reporting to Paul Gardner, head of STEF for Deutsche Bank in Asia, Mr Zondag’s responsibilities within the unit include overseeing Korean exporters and for the telecom sector across Asia.

Mr Zondag has fourteen years of banking experience and joins from ABN AMRO/ RBS where he most recently worked in the export and project finance team. Prior to that, he covered senior roles in the Financial Markets Advisory business at ABN AMRO/ RBS.

Edward Hui will join Mr Zondag's team in Hong Kong and will focus on structuring best-in-class financing solutions for Deutsche Bank’s clients in Asia.

Mr Hui has experience in the power and telecom sectors and joins from ABN AMRO/ RBS, where he worked in the export and project finance team for four years.

The head of unit Mr Gardner said that the two new hires bring expert knowledge of the structured trade and export finance industry to Deutsche Bank and will maximise the extensive opportunities that exist in this sector in Asia.

Klaus Michalak, global head of STEF at Deutsche Bank said that Mr Hui and Mr Zondag have been appointed to the STEF team in Asia strengthen the bank’s client coverage in the region. This reinforces the commitment to serve Asian clients with best-in-class structured financing solutions in the commodity, receivables and Export Credit Agency areas and further strengthens the bank’s global product delivery.
