East supports Earth Hour

(26 March 2009 – Australia) East & Partners will once again participate in Earth Hour this year by switching of lights and all other power in its offices in preparation for the official Earth Hour at 8.30pm on March 28 2009. Earth Hour is designed to demonstrate the impact that we are having on climate change and the things that we can do to make a difference and create a more sustainable future.

For East & Partners, this is not a one off event. The company already strives to turn off all computers and lights every weeknight and weekend.

Our research has found that many companies are still unaware of their climate risk and impact and could be doing more to support a sustainable future.

The banking community is heavily behind Earth Hour with all the major banks supporting the initiative in 2009. Banks continue to play an important role in sustainability with their reach to retail and business customers.

Climate change is the most significant threat to life on Earth. One way to slow the current rate of global warming is to get each individual to make small adjustments to the way they live. To achieve individual change we need to demonstrate how simple and easy the changes are.

Earth Hour was first held in 2007 in Sydney and has this year spread to Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and Hobart plus 22 international cities.

East & Partners encourages everyone to practice Earth Hour every day at home or work by following the World Wide Fund's online advice or pledge your individual support at www.earthhour.org.
