Former BA boss joins JPMorgan

(24 October 2005 – Australia) Former British Airways chief executive Sir Rod Eddington is set to join JPMorgan’s Australia and New Zealand business as non executive chairman. Australian national Eddington spent five years as BA boss following roles as managing director of Cathay Pacific and executive chairman of the now defunct Ansett.

JPMorgan senior country officer for Australia and New Zealand, Rob Priestley, said Eddington’s appointment would strengthen the bank’s capabilities.

"Sir Rod’s outstanding career has been characterised by integrity, vision, innovation and achievement – the same values that we have built our business on," he said.

Eddington said JPMorgan had good product and a global network which could be used to create great business opportunities.

Eddington will also advise the UK government Treasury and Department of Transport on the long term impact of transport infrastructure decisions on the country’s productivity, stability and growth.
