Goldman Sachs Invests US$500 million in Data Platform

(20 October 2020 – United States) Goldman Sachs Merchant Banking Division (GS MBD) have recently partnered with a data infrastructure management team to develop a newly established global data centre infrastructure (Global Compute).

GS MBD have committed US500 million of equity capital, mainly from its infrastructure fund, to develop this business initiative. Global Compute will focus on providing solutions to the compute, storage, and connectivity pain points in data management for global technology firms. 

Global Compute is currently led by Scott Peterson, the former Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Digital Realty. 
                                                       
“Our combined global pedigrees and networks, together with GS MBD’s access to ample growth capital, will allow the Global Compute platform to not only serve the critical needs of our customers around the world, but also create and unlock value for our partner” commented Global Compute CEO, Scott Peterson.
