Goldman Sachs Veteran Moves to HSBC as North Asia Global Banking Head

(7 October 2022 - Hong Kong) HSBC has appointed Christina Ma as its new Head of Global Banking for North Asia, commencing in the role in Q1 2023.

Christina Ma replaces Dai Kitamura, who departs HSBC in November after extended leave. Ma held the position of head of Greater China equities for Goldman Sachs, where she spent over two decades. She first joined as a managing director and was promoted to partner in 2020.

Ma will remain based in Hong Kong and report to Greg Guyett co-CEO of Global Banking and Markets, and to David Liao, co-CEO for Asia Pacific. She will also sit on the Global Banking and HBAP (HSBC Asia Pacific) executive committees.

Ma will be responsible for the bank’s North Asia coverage, client strategy and product delivery, working with the bank’s other global and regional product heads.  She will liaise with Lea on managing the bank’s balance sheet, overseeing its support infrastructure, and driving other regional priorities.
