HSBC Appoints New Group CFO

(25 October 2022 – UK) HSBC has named Georges Elhedery as group chief financial officer (CFO) and executive director of the board.

Furthermore, Greg Guyett was appointed as the new CEO of Global Banking and Markets (GBM), effective immediately.  

Elhedery will take on his new role from 1 January 2023, replacing Ewen Stevenson, who will be stepping down from the role of group CFO and executive director on 31 December and will leave HSBC in April next year.

Prior to the appointment, Elhedery was the co-chief executive of global banking and markets since March 2020. Previously, he also held various other senior roles including global head of markets, North Africa and Turkey CEO, Middle East and North Africa head of global banking and markets and more.

HSBC group chief executive, Noel Quinn, commented on the appointment of Elhedery  saying he has “strong experience of leading a global business and a major geographic region”.
