HSBC appoints Saunders head of new role
(7 June 2011 – Australia) John Saunders has been appointed to the newly created role of head of commodity and structured trade finance for HSBC’s Australian operations.
Before joining HSBC, Saunders held a senior relationship management role at BNP Paribas Fortis in London.
Commodity exports from Australia are forecast by HSBC to reach a record A$251 billion in the year to June 30, 2012, driven by agriculture and demand from China.
'This is a clear growth area, particularly when viewed against the backdrop of an expected 4.2 percent global economic growth over the same period,' said Andrew Skinner, head of trade and supply chain for HSBC Bank Australia.
