HSBC appoints Vietnam head

HSBC appoints Vietnam head

(14 April 2008 – Asia) HSBC has made a Cash Management appointment in Vietnam, following the approval to locally incorporate in the country. The appointment of the head of Global Payments and Cash Management in Vietnam follows the approval-in-principle of HSBC on the 8th of March 2008 to join the first wave of foreign banks to locally incorporate in Vietnam.

The intent is to strengthen the payments and cash management capabilities in this country.

HSBC has appointed Manny Narciso to this position, following from his previous appointment of head of Global Payments and Cash Management in the Philippines for HSBC.

While in his previous role in Thailand, he led the business to exceed targets by 57 percent.

Iain Taylor, head of Market Development, Global Payments and Cash Management, Asia Pacific said that Vietnam was one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia, with GDP growth in excess of 7 percent a year over the past few years.

Mr Narciso’s role in the Philippines has been taken up by Patricia R. Olbes. Prior to joining HSBC she was the head of Product Management for Citigroup's Global Transaction Banking business in the Philippines.
