HSBC targets small business in New York City
(12 May 2005 – USA) HSBC is embarking on a major expansion program focussed on the New York City area with at least 10 new branches set to open in 2005 and more to come in 2006.
New branches will open in New York City, Long Island and Westchester. HSBC has already opened new branches in Chinatown this year.
The bank will employ some 200 new staff including small business experts, financial planners and insurance specialists in a bid to grow the bank’s SME and personal banking customer base.
The new branches will have extended hours with some opening seven days a week.
"These new locations will help us better serve our individual and business customers in and around New York City," HSBC USA chief executive Martin Glynn said.
The new branches will be promoted with the bank’s first major brand advertising campaign focused on New York.
