Italian payment service provider trialling real time POS money transfer

(22 June 2016 – Italy) Italian payments processor SIA has partnered with domestic bank UBI to pilot an extension of itsJiffy P2P mobile money transfer service to allow in-store payments. The new service will provide customers with the option to pay via app at participating retailers.

Customers identify a merchant via the app using geolocation, store search or directly at the point of sale by scanning the QR Code. Then to make a purchase, they enter the amount to pay and activate the cash transfer operation with a click.

Merchants can see the payment in real time, check the amount and confirm the transaction, with immediate availability of the sum on the current account.

Additionally, SIA has also teamed up with Ingenico on plans to enable payments straight from customers' phones to store POS terminals.
