Jobs change with BankWest merger

(7 January 2009 – Australia) Changes have been made to the executive teams of HBOS Australia and BankWest after the regulatory approval of CBA’s acquisition of BankWest. As at the end of 2008, CBA’s acquisition of BankWest had received approval from both the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and the federal treasurer, Wayne Swan.

In late December, the Chairman of BankWest, Ian Mackenzie, announced the appointment of Jon Sutton as managing director, BankWest.

Sutton takes over from Simon Walsh, who after a five year tenure will leave BankWest but remain with HBOS Australia.

Also, the former head of HBOS Australia, David Willis has finished up in the role after his position was made redundant due to the sale of BankWest by HBOS.

HBOS Australia will now be headed by BOS International chief Jack Dykes.

Willis became managing director of HBOS Australia in June 2004, shortly after the business was created through the combination of BankWest, St Andrew's, Capital Finance and BOS International.
