Kiwibank announces new CEO

(02 September 2010 – New Zealand) Kiwibank has located its new chief executive officer from within the state-owned company’s own ranks. Paul Brock, who will move into the role immediately, will take the reins from the departing chief executive Sam Knowles.
Mr Knowles will stay on until the end of this month to support Mr Brock’s integration into the top job.

Mr Brock formed the original team that created Kiwibank in 2002.

Former roles of Mr Brock’s include general manager of marketing and most recently general manager of savings and transactions, he has also stepped into the position of CEO over the years.

The bank’s chairman, Jim Bolger, said that Mr Brock was selected from a field of high quality national and international applicants, Mr Bolger said.

Paul has played a key part in Kiwibank's success since its creation and has the skill and leadership which will help the bank go from strength to strength and help continue to change the shape of banking in New Zealand, Mr Brock said.

It is a tribute to the development of the senior management under Sam Knowles that the board of Kiwibank was able with confidence to appoint a top quality internal candidate to drive the next phase of the bank's growth, Mr Bolger said.
