Macquarie Global head of Electronic Execution appointed

(15 May 2015 – Australia) Macquarie Securities, the institutional equities arm of Macquarie Group announced on 13 May the appointment of Stuart McWilliam as Global head of Electronic Execution from Macquarie Securities.

McWilliam currently has responsibility for Macquarie’s market-leading electronic product in Australia.

In his new role, he will also be responsible for the continued development of Macquarie’s United States and European electronic products.

He will relocate to New York later this year and continue to report to Damian Hoult, Global head of Execution Services.

“Over the past four years, Stuart has been integral in the business and structural development of Macquarie’s electronic trading platform across Japan and the Asia-Pacific region,” Hoult said.

“His deep industry experience and innovative mindset have been instrumental in building our leadership position in Asia.

“I look forward to working with Stuart to further our client-centric approach globally and as we continue to grow our US electronic execution effort,” Hoult said.

McWilliam has held various roles in securities trading in London and Sydney.

Prior to Macquarie, he was head of Liquidity Management at ITG based in London, where he was responsible for European Dark Pool and Electronic trading strategy for four years.

At Merrill Lynch in London, he delivered the firm’s first European Smart Router at the advent of equities market fragmentation.

McWilliam has a Bachelor of IT from the Queensland University of Technology.

Prior to joining the securities industry, he was a software engineer for eight years, specialising in data security and cryptography.
