Macquarie on its metal with new appointments

(12 July 2004 – Australia) Macquarie Bank has boosted its metals and mining trading desk in its Sydney operations with two new appointments. The bank has added Monica Leung to focus on the Asian marketplace. Leung has joined from MKS Finance’s precious metals division.

Former metals marketer with N M Rothschild, Julie Ngui, has been appointed to market Macquarie’s precious and bases metals trading team.

The bank said it sees a strong future in the metals market despite some of its rival banks scaling back their operations in this area over recent years.

The bank is an associate broking clearing member of the London Metal Exchange.
