MasterCard appoints global head

(30th September 2010 – USA) MasterCard Worldwide has announced the appointment of Edward Glassman as group executive of Global Commercial Products. Mr Glassman, who immediately took on the role, has become responsible for leading the global development and commercialisation of MasterCard's innovative commercial products and solutions that serve small business, mid- and large market organizations and public sector institutions.

Tim Murphy, chief product officer MasterCard Worldwide, said in a statement that the firm is very excited to welcome Mr Glassman to MasterCard.

Mr Glassman brings a deep understanding of commercial payments and extensive experience in building and growing global business-to-business products and services to the company, Mr Murphy added.

Mr Glassman’s extensive experience in driving the transformational growth of some of the most successful Global Transaction Services (GTS) businesses in our industry will be invaluable, Mr Murphy highlighted.

The card giant’s new executive joins the firm after a successful career in banking and technology.

Previously, Mr Glassman held senior roles at RBS, ABN AMRO and Citibank, leading both global commercial product and technology teams. He has also served as chief information officer for the GTS businesses at RBS and ABN AMRO.

Prior to ABN AMRO, Mr Glassman led the Commercial Cards platform at Citibank, later heading Global Product Development for GTS, including the development and deployment of CitiDirect across the world.
