Middle Kingdom keeps static yuan

(China) - China's Central Bank Governor has made it plain that, as a member of the World Trade Organisation, China needed to adjust its currency exchange mechanism only gradually. No need is seen to appreciate or depreciate the currency, although a requirement does exist to gradually adjust the relationship between the yuan and US dollar.

China's central bankers keep the yuan trading generally between 8.2760 to 8.2800 against the US dollar, although some 20 billion yuan is already circulating outside the mainland.
