MLC appoints new CIO
(21 September 2010 – Australia) MLC has appointed Nicky Richards, formerly of Fidelity International based in London, as their new chief investment officer (CIO).
Ms Richards will officially begin her role in January 2011, taking over from Susan Gosling, head of capital markets, who has been acting CIO since February 2010.
Ms Richards has more than 20 years experience in the global investment markets in Australia, Europe, Asia and the United States. As CIO at MLC MS Richards will be responsible for more than A$65 billion in funds under management.
MLC executive general manager of asset management, Garry Mulcahy, said he is "extremely pleased" with the new appointment, adding Gosling will continue to play a key role in the company.
Ms Richard’s appointment is the third in a series of recent hires of investment professionals to MLC. In July this year, the company appointed Michael Karagianis from UBS as an investment strategist and Stefano Cavaglia as alternatives portfolio manager.
