Nab feels the heat from delayed customers
(25 November 2010 – Australia) Customers of National Australia Bank have endured disruptions to their transactions including pay and other deposits.
Millions have been affected by the error, which has resulted in delays to customers using NAB’s network of ATMs, Eftpos and other electronic systems.
Calls from furious customers have flooded the bank’s customer services centre, creating further delays.
Centrelink confirmed this morning that its customers were among those affected.
The bank refused to say how many of its 11.5 million customers were affected by the failure, which was likely to be nationwide and on all account types.
A spokesperson for the bank said that it will take some time to rectify and, while the bank was hopeful all delayed payments will be able to be processed by later today, would provide further updates as things progress.
The bank would not elaborate on the cause of the outage other than to blame 'technical issues''.
