NAB glitches continues

NAB glitches continues

(25 November 2010 – Australia) National Australia Bank’s technical glitch has continued to delay payments to customers of all major banks in Australia, with signals indicating that problems may continue until the end of the weekend. Commonwealth Bank, ANZ Bank, HSBC Bank and Citi all confirmed that some customer transactions had been affected by the errors in the NAB’s data processing that occurred Wednesday morning and that is still not resolved.

"The glitch is a NAB issue," said CommBank in a statement. "However, we are liaising with NAB to have the issue fixed as quickly as possible."

HSBC said the transactions to other banks, payroll deposits, direct debits, had been affected. ANZ Bank and Citi confirmed its customers were affected, as well.

"NAB clears payments for HSBC in Australia, as well as other banks," HSBC said in a statement. "As a result of the technical issues NAB is experiencing, the processing of some of our customer transactions has also been delayed."

The problem comes as millions of Australians face the weekend without ability to access their funds or work payment. Calls to Westpac were not immediately answered, although it's understood the payment problem is affecting any customer whose account is a payment to be settled by NAB.
