NAB warns consumers
(8 January 2010 – Australia) National Australia Bank has warned customers about emails circulating used to steal personal information and obtain banking details.
The emails, which appear to be sent from either NAB, Visa or the Australian Federal Police, ask customers to comply by confirming their identity or make a payment.
The bank warned on its website that fraudulent emails have been distributed that appear to be sent from NAB or other legitimate businesses that attempt to trick you into providing personal information such as NAB ID, internet or telephone banking password, credit card details.
The bank advised customers to not click on any links, open attachments or enter any personal information. NAB will not send emails of this nature; the bank also advised customer use the SMS security feature, update anti-virus software and keep operating systems current.
