New head of agribusiness at Westpac

(29 October 2004 – Australia) Westpac has appointed Rod Kelly to head up its national agribusiness division. Kelly, whose most recent role was regional executive of the Central & Southern Queensland region, will run the division from his Toowoomba base. He will oversee development and implementation of the bank’s agribusiness growth strategy, working closely with Jamie Ritchie, Westpac’s general manager of regional banking.

Kelly said the Agribusiness sector accounted for more than 40 percent of the bank’s regional customers and the team of agribusiness managers formed a core part of Westpac’s regional banking team.

"Their experience in a wide range of rural and regional industries that match the economic base and growth of regional Australia ensures customers receive solutions to their financial needs that are both innovative and insightful," he said.

Westpac has 2500 staff in 378 locations in regional Australia and has pledged to maintain face to face banking services in every town where the bank currently operates.
