New head of ING’s Asian financial institutions group

New head of ING’s Asian financial institutions group

(24 February 2004 – Hong Kong) ING has appointed Gopal Menon to head up the bank’s Financial Institutions Group for the Asian region. Menon replaces Grenville Thynne who moved to Australia at the start of 2004 to lead the bank’s Australian Investment Banking practice.

Menon joined ING in 1995 after three years with American Express Bank and five years with ANZ Investment Bank. In 1998 he relocated to Hong Kong from Mumbai to join the Asian regional corporate finance team.

ING head of Investment Banking, Asia, Malcolm Brown, said Menon would strengthen the bank’s advisory and transaction capabilities as a result of his experience overseeing complex transactions, such as Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency’s holding in PT Bank Lippo.
