New MD for Credit Suisse private bank

(17 July 2007 - Australia) Credit Suisse has appointed Nicholas Kalikajaros as managing director and head of the bank's recently launched Private Banking for Australia. He will be based in Sydney and take up the reins in October.

Credit Suisse head of Private Banking for Asia Pacific, Marcel Kreis, said Australia was one of the bank's priority markets in Private Banking and that Kalikajaros' knowledge and experience would underpin its expanding local team.

Kalikajaros will focus on leveraging Credit Suisse's integrated banking platform with its established Investment Banking and Asset Management divisions.

Kalikajaros has joined Credit Suisse from Merrill Lynch where he was head of Global Private Clients for Australia and New Zealand. Before that he was general manager at St George Private Bank and co-head of UBS Private Clients Australia, formerly Potter Warburg Securities Limited. He also worked at Commonwealth Bank.

Kalikajaros will report to François Monnet, head of Private Banking for Southeast Asia and Australasia, who joins Credit Suisse in September. On a country level, Kalikajaros will report to David Trude, Sydney Branch Manager and Australia country head.

Credit Suisse launched its Private Banking operations in Australia at the end of 2006, and has been building its local team of relationship managers, product specialists and investment professionals in Sydney and Melbourne.

The bank has also appointed Shane Galligan as head of Products for Private Banking Australia, based in Melbourne. He has joined after 25 years with National Australia Bank.
