New research head at Rabo Australasia

(5 July 2006 – Australia) Rabobank Australia & New Zealand has appointed Bill Cordingley as the new head of its Food and Agribusiness Research (FAR) unit. Cordingley, who was previously senior analyst of animal proteins, replaces Ben Russell, who has moved to take up the role of general manager of Rabobank’s New Zealand rural banking operations.

Rabobank’s FAR unit provides industry research for the bank and its clients, employing around 80 analysts and specialist staff globally, seven of whom are in Australia and New Zealand.

Rabobank Australia and New Zealand CEO Bruce Dick said Cordingley’s extensive knowledge of agriculture and the agribusiness industries, along with his strong track record at Rabobank, had made him a natural choice for the role.

"Bill is very well placed to lead Rabobank’s Food and Agribusiness Research division through its next stage of development, continuing to enhance its contribution to Rabobank and the wider agricultural and agribusiness sectors in Australia and New Zealand," Dick said.

Before joining Rabobank in January 2005, Cordingley operated his own food import and professional consulting business and previously held roles as a commodities trader with agribusiness company Gardner Smith. He was also a manager at Meat and Livestock Australia.

Dick said Rabobank’s FAR division played a vital role in helping the bank meet its clients’ specialist needs.
