Nomura bulks up US team

(01 April 2010 – USA) Nomura Securities International has announced this week that Michael Rietbrock joined the firm as Head of US Equity Research, as the investment bank lays out plans for further hires including 15 new analysts in the fixed-income research division. Mr Rietbrock will be responsible for building the fundamental research offering in the Americas and will partner with the research teams in Europe and Asia, where Nomura already has a top-ranked research product.

The firm is very excited to have Mr Rietbrock as head of US equity research and as a core senior member of Nomura's global research, said Hideyuki Takahashi, head of global research.

Noruma is confident that Mr Rietbrock will create the best research team in the US, thereby enhancing the appeal of Nomura's global research to clients all over the world, added Mr Takahashi.

Mr Rietbrock joins the firm from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where as director of US equity research he led a major expansion of the department and also managed the integration with Merrill Lynch's research group.

Noruma has also said that the firm plans to increase its US fixed-income research division by up to 15 analysts, only one week after its Australian arm pinched eight analysts and two support staff from RBS.
