(11 August 2008 – Global) HSBC has indicated that a global integration of IT systems in underway, with deployments in seven countries in the first half of 2008. HSBC said that a programme is currently underway to migrate its global operations onto a single technology platform.

The initiative, entitled One HSBC, aims to establish a common technology platform across business units and regions in order to decrease costs and improve customer service.

The bank said that standardising their service proposition under the programme has cut service interruptions in half and slowed cost growth in the first six months of the year.

The seven countries in which One HSBC has been deployed thus far are Australia, Poland, Brunei, Russia, Chile, Indonesia and Slovakia. Another seven countries are scheduled to deploy the technology in the second half of 2008.
