Pay with Google roll out begins

(23 October 2017 – Global) Revealed at I/O, Google’s annual developer event in May, the Google payment API will allow users to make verified credit or debit card purchases using their android device without the need for additional details.

Contingent on the user’s card being registered with a Google service such as Play or Youtube, payments can be made by entering a security code or by authentication from the device – cutting out the process of having to input details during checkout.

Currently, Pay with Google is only available to a small amount of services including Dice (United Kingdom), Kayak (USA), and iFood (Brazil). However, the technology giant states that more companies will be coming onboard soon, including Just Eat, Dilveroo, Airbnb and Hotel Tonight.

Developers will also have the option to integrate its Google Payment application programming interface “with a few lines of code”, according to the announcement.
