PayPal app downloads skyrocket

(9 April 2010 – Global) PayPal has claimed that its PayPal Mobile iPhone app has been downloaded one million times in less than three weeks, claiming consumers are ready to live a cash-free culture. First appearing in Apple's App Store on March 15, the application includes features that allow users to split the cheque at restaurants, collect money for events and the popular Bump money transfers, where users bump their phones together to make a payment.

Osama Bedier, PayPal’s vice president of platform and emerging technology said that with PayPal Mobile on the iPhone, trips to the ATM are a thing of the past.

The one million downloads shows just how ready people are to live a cashless and card-free culture with their wallet living safely in the clouds, Mr Bedier said.
