Peacock flies in UK as pressure mounts for Walters
(23 March 2004 – Australia) National Australia Bank has appointed Lynne Peacock as the bank’s executive director in the UK.
Peacock previously worked for Barclays Bank and was a director at Woolwich. She will report to Ross Pinney who is responsible for NAB’s UK and Irish businesses.
In further news, pressure continues to grow for the bank’s longest serving director and chairman of the audit committee Catherine Walter to step down.
New chairman Graham Kraehe, who was previously head of NAB’s risk management committee, has attempted to convince Walter to give up the position she has held since 1995.
Kraehe has been backed in this aim by Australian Shareholders Association John Curry who said she should leave to help restore confidence in the bank.
