Royal Commission forces shake up at NAB

Royal Commission forces shake up at NAB

(17 September 2018 – Australia) National Australia Bank has announced its head of consumer and wealth Andrew Hagger will leave the bank following the outcomes of the August round of hearings at the royal commission.

“I take accountability for what has occurred on my watch, and accept that alongside successes were failures, including instances where we did not act with the pace required,” Mr Hagger said in a statement. “I leave NAB with confidence that we are creating a better bank.”

NAB’s most high-profile staff member, former NSW premier Mike Baird will replace Mr Hagger as it is believed he is in the best position to help restore community trust.

David Gall will replace Mr Baird as chief customer officer of corporate and institutional banking with Shaun Dooley replacing Mr Gall as chief risk officer.

Rachel Slade, who joined the bank from Westpac earlier last year, will also take up a new role of chief customer experience.
