SA credit union sees Melbourne growth
(21 August 2007 – Australia) South Australian based Savings & Loans Credit Union is expanding into the Melbourne market, rolling out three branches in eastern Melbourne this year with more set to follow.
Savings & Loans chief executive Greg Connor said the credit union had expanded from its South Australia heartland and opened in Darwin, Sydney and regional Victoria.
Savings & Loans is Australia’s third largest credit union, with 170,000 members and 27 branches.
Connor said Melbourne provided both a challenge and opportunity, as there was a gap in the market for a community focussed, member owned financial institution that delivered low fees and excellent service.
He said the move into Melbourne enabled the credit union to obtain the resources to re-invest in its infrastructure, distribution and staff across Australia.
Savings & Loans will open at The Glen Shopping Centre at Glen Waverley, Chirnside Park Shopping Centre at Chirnside Park, and Knox City Shopping Centre at Wantirna South.
