Santander powers down
(10 February 2010 – UK) The UK customers of, Spanish bank, Santander were unable to access the bank’s ATMs and online services for over six hours earlier this week due a power failure.
The power was lost at one of the bank’s processing sites at around 11am on Monday morning.
The power outage meant the bank’s customers did not have access to their online banking and the bank’s ATMs for over six hours until the problem was repaired.
The bank was conducting internal testing at the processing site, triggering the failure.
The power cut also affected former Abbey and Bradford & Bingley customers, indicating a problem also occurred with the shared Partenon banking platform.
