Senior changes at HSBC Australia

(22 February 2017 – Australia) HSBC has appointed a new chief of its Australian operations. The bank said Martin Tricaud will replace Tony Cripps, from 3 April 2017.

The announcement comes just three months after the bank’s board signed off on Cripps’ three-year growth plan for Australia. He will remain on the board of HSBC Bank Australia and lead the bank’s Singapore division after four years in the role. Cripps’ recent achievements at the helm of HSBC Australia include launching a new “private banking” service for the ultra-wealthy and the bank re-entering home loan mortgage broking market.

Tricaud will join HSBC Australia from the bank’s Korea business, where he has been president and CEO since 2013. He was previously global head of multinationals in HSBC’s global banking and markets division, based in London.

In a statement, HSBC said Tricaud would be responsible for leading the bank’s “next period of growth and investment”, including deepening market share and growing revenues across retail banking and wealth management, commercial banking, institutional operations and private banking.
