Senior UN staffer joins NAB

(4 August 2006 – Australia) The former director of Internal Audit at the United Nations, Patricia Azarias, has joined National Australia Bank as regional general manager, Business and Organisational Performance. Azarias was the highest ranking Australian in the UN and was responsible for the internal audit of all UN operations and departments worldwide, travelling to trouble spots such as a Liberia and Sierra Leone.

At the NAB, she will oversee strategy, business performance and change management, people and culture, marketing and research, training and sales processes, among other areas for the bank’s Business and Personal division.

Azarias joined the UN following a tenure as chief executive of NSW Ministry of Urban Infrastructure Management where she was responsible for co-ordination of infrastructure planning in NSW.

Before that she served as director of the Public Accounts Committee in the NSW State Parliament.
