Square expands with new POS device

(5 October 2017 – Australia) Payments service provider, and industry disruptor Square Payments, has launched a new solution that turns an iPad into a fully integrated point-of-sale (POS) system.

Retailing for A$299, the system, named the Square Stand, integrates with the company’s POS software and includes a Square Reader and Dock and an iPad stand.

The launch of the product comes as the company celebrates 18 months in the Australian market. While Square boasts “tens of thousands of Australian businesses” as customers, it is still firmly behind competitors such as Tyro and Commonwealth Bank in terms of merchant adoption and awareness.

Square’s Australian country manager Ben Pfisterer said the launch represents Square’s commitment to growing with the needs of local businesses.

“Square’s original mission was to help Australian businesses start, run, and grow. Now with our expanding list of products and services—from accepting card payments to online invoicing, inventory management, real-time analytics, and employee management—a wider range of businesses can benefit from the powerful business tools we are introducing.”
