St George releases home loan app

(21 January 2010 – Australia) St George Bank has taken advantage of the iPhone revolution and created an iPhone application aimed at home buyers. The Home Loan Calculator, for the iPhone and iPod Touch, provides potential home buyers with an instant access application allowing them to calculate how much they can borrow and what their monthly repayments would be.

The free downloadable application also gives users the ability to search for suburbs, based on median house prices, in which they can afford to buy based on their borrowing power or a specified amount entered by the user.

The information for the application is provided in an exclusive deal with Infochoice, an Australian finance comparison company.

Travis Tyler, St George Bank’s Head of eDistribution and Internet said, that the St George Home Loan Calculator Application is easy to use and provides potential home buyers with the information they need right at their fingertips, where and when they need it the most.

St George reported that more than 60,000 individuals have used the bank’s mobile banking services since it launched on iPhone and iPod Touch devices in March last year.

The bank also said that more than 240,000 transactions have been completed through the iPhone in the last nine months.

Mr Tyler said that in addition to checking account balance and transferring funds, customers have begun to use their iPhone to apply for new savings accounts or credit cards.

St George has seen the number of customers using mobile banking increase at a rate of more than 20 percent each month and is increasingly seeing customers use their iPhone for more of their banking needs, Mr Tyler said.
