StanChart makes key wealth management hires in Asia

(30 January 2017 – Asia) Standard Chartered has made new appointments to its private banking and wealth management division for China and North Asia including that of Teddy Kwong as Managing Director, Private Banking and Peter Lam as Managing Director and Deputy Market Head, Private Banking.

Kwong joins Standard Chartered from his previous position as Market Head for Hong Kong with rival HSBC Global Private Banking. he will report to Vivian Chan who is Regional Head, Private Banking, Greater China and North Asia.

With 28 years at HSBC Group in various senior and management roles, Kwong has served in Private and Commercial Banking divisions. He was also the CEO of HSBC Macau from 2009 to 2013.

Meanwhile, StanChart Lam, also an ex-HSBC executive, will report to Kwong. He has around 29 years’ experience the industry, and previously worked with UBS, Credit Lyonnais and Citibank.

The appointments follow those of Mary Huen Wai-yi as its new CEO for Hong Kong, succeeding May Tan and John Tan, as regional head of financial markets for Hong Kong, as well as Greater China and North Asia.
