SunGard creates global offering

(9 April 2010 – Australia) SunGard has created SunGard Global Services, bringing together its consulting and technology teams to focus on the global financial services and energy industries. The new business focused primarily on the global financial services and energy industries will boast a team of 4,500, pooling the company’s service expertise for the first time into one organisation.

SunGard said in a statement that the variety of regulatory and competitive pressures that the Australian financial services market is facing, is still forcing the market into further activities of consolidation.

The strong are becoming stronger, while the contenders still push for innovation and are looking for expertise to help facilitate this. Amid these competing forces, SunGard is launching its Global Services offerings to the Australian market, SunGard said.

The need for innovative and practical solutions that address such challenges is greater than ever, customers want to reduce operational complexity through efficient business process transformation, create transparency through effective project execution, and leverage global networks that accrue real and sustainable business value, SunGard added.

Mack Gill, previously president of SunGard Technology Services, has been named president of SunGard Global Services.

SunGard Global Services will operate out of 25 global financial and technology centers including Bangalore, Dublin, Houston, London, New York, Paris, Pune, Shanghai, Sydney and Tunis.

To help customers in Asia manage their growing infrastructure and technology needs, SunGard Global Services is also launching a new consulting services practice, based in Singapore.
